One of the lovely ladies I meet 5 years ago when Lizzy and I joined playgroup owns a cottage in Twin Lakes Wisconsin. It is rare that all 6 of us moms have the chance to get together with let alone without our children anymore. Different groups of us get together every week but all of us can’t make it all of the time since we have all add other children into our family or gone back to work in some degree. It was with great pleasure that we all were able to runaway er um I mean take a break from our husbands and children for a weekend. What does one do on a mom’s weekend? Not wipe booties or noses. Snack on good food. Drink good wine and other adult beverages (thank you Laura!!) and hang out with good friends.
Meanwhile back at the farm…….
While I was sleeping in and doing selfish things like going to the bathroom solo the first big snow of the 2010/2011 winter was landing at home. As you can see Dan promptly put the girls to work.
Then they were reward with some good old fashion playtime.
Now Lizzy will tell you that the best salad in the world is NaiNai’s Cucumber Salad. Pretty much any salad anywhere that is a version of cucumber salad is automatically labeled NaiNai’s Cucumber Salad. Since the kiddos and Dan were having dinner at NaiNai’s, she decided to teach Lizzy and Annie how to make THE Cucumber Salad. Lizzy was in heaven.
After eating Cucumber Salad they helped NaiNai decorate her Christmas tree and make some brownies.
While it was nice to get away it was even nicer to come home and be back with my babies. After all look at those sweet faces. Would you want to be away from them for long?
