Door County Day 1 and 2

This year we were able to visit Door County again for the first time in 3 or so years.  It was a wonderful time away for the 4 of us as a family.  There is not much in the way of Wifi or phone signal up there so it forced us to just be with each other.  It was WONDERFUL!

We arrived at The Landing in Egg Harbor at 2:00pm.  I love this place.  I always say to Dan when we win the Lottery we will be buying one of these units.

Of course we spent our first afternoon driving up the thumb and stopping at Bea's Ho Made goods.  I was able to refill my stash of Strawberry Rhubar Jam and Lizzy got herself a jar or 3 of the Sweet Dill Chunks that she loves.  We ended our first day with dinner at Shipwreck.  Once we returned to the Landing Lizzy and Dan went swimming.  Annie and I just chilled.

On Thursday morning a.k.a Day # 2 we got up early (not 6am early) to go to Al Johnson's  in Sister Bay for breakfast.

I could eat Swedish pancakes and meatballs for almost any meal.  Annie loved the meatballs!  The pancakes make me think of my Grandma Emily's Flapjacks.

Directly across from the restaurant is a marina with this Lighthouse.  Of course us girls had to pose!

Next stop was the Tannenbaum Shop.  They have Christmas stuff up the ying-yang.  They also had orange fall trees that were decked out with Halloween decorations too.

In the past we have always used the Viking Train for the Washington Island tour.  This year it was canceled last minute so we used the Washington Island Ferry and then purchased tickets for the Cherry Train.

The Washington Island Ferry takes both people and cars through the bay.  Annie thought this was great.  She kept laughing and saying.  "They have cars on the boat!"

Once we arrived on Washington Island we had a little bit of a wait before we could board the Cherry Train.  Lizzy and Annie were practices skipping rocks for later when we wold be on School House Beach.

The first stop on the Cherry Train was an ostrich farm.  These ostriches were obsessed with this egg they would follow it everywhere.

Of course there were piggies.  Turns out both Lizzy and Annie love  piggies!

These rocks are the smoothes thing I have ever felt.  They are very rare and only made by a type of lime stone that is deposited by a glacier.

Annie was in love with this giant rock.  There is a hefty fine and jail time enforced if you take the rocks from the beach.

This old church was one of the last stops.

It was beautiful both inside and out.

I am not really sure what the story behind this table and chairs is.  These are on the side of the road.  Dan and I remember them as always just being there.  One of the chairs was knocked over so Lizzy wanted to fix it and get her picture taken so Daddy being Daddy obliged.
