Sloppy Jamie's:

Today I made Sloppy Jamie's a.k.a my version of a Sloppy Joe for the T-n-T teams end of year party.  They turned out awesome.  Just about everything can be gotten from Aldi's too!  I made this on my stove top and with the help of the crock pot.  If you are only making this recipe once you can do the whole thing on the stove top.

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tsp – 1 TBL McCormick  Montréal Steak Seasoning
1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 can tomato sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
8 hamburger buns, split

Mix the brown sugar and the Steak seasoning together.  Start the beef browning in a pan.  Sprinkle to spiced sugar mix over the meat.  Finish browning and drain almost all of the fat.  At this point I put all but a little bit of the meat in the crock-pot**.  To the meat in the in the pan I add the veggies and the Chili powder, paprika, and ground cumin.  Cook them down until everything is tender.  Add to the meat in the crock-pot.  Now add the vinegars and tomato sauce.  If you want a more tomato-y sweet taste add a good squirt of ketchup.  After this has cooked on high for an hour if you want a more tomato-y taste but not necessarily sweet taste add a small can of tomato paste 1 TBL at a time.  Then you can keep tweaking it by adding more ketchup to taste.

**  If you are only making the 1 1/2 lbs version of this recipe you can make the whole thing in a big skillet on your stove top.  After you drain the meat add the veggies and spices.  Cook until the veggies are tender then add the vinegars and tomato sauce.  Mix it all and simmer for 5 -10 minutes to incorporate it all.  Add ketchup and or tomato paste to taste.
