Today we had out IEP meeting with the school district. Annie has qualified for services because of her Hard of Hearing diagnosis. I am very happy to report that we were able to get everything that Annie needs. The most exciting part of this is that this summer she can start in at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing preschool/early childhood center that is in Lombard. I will be able to attend with her. We are going to shoot for 2 days a week with me and increase to 2 days a week with me plus one day a week without me. With our goal being 3 ½ days without mom come Fall and come January 3 full days without mom. I am very optimistic about this because the teacher that will be in the class this sumer is also the teacher that will be in her teacher in the fall.
As part of Annie’s IEP Dan, Lizzy and I will get to take Sign Language classes to help us bridge the communication gap with Annie.
While in her classroom/school she will also get OT services and speech services. We are also trying to set up services with Easter Seals this summer as well.
We are currently battling some funky kind of stomach yuck that is going on with her. We see her Ped on Tuesday for her 3 year check up so hopefully we will get that finally figured out as well. Today after our IEP meeting we had an appointment to see the doctor due to the Vomit Comet that Annie has been riding on. They sent us to the hospital to have an Upper GI done. The order even said STAT on it!!! It was scary to walk in with that order marked STAT. There was also a note to “hold the patient” so they could give us the results and move on something if it was needed. To make a long story short they wanted to rule out Annie’s small intestine flipping or twisting after she eats. They have been able to rule that out. My mom gut is telling me that this is food allergy related. Only time will tell.
Summer is creeping around the corner and I am soooo excited to see it coming. This will be a full summer with Lizzy’s tumbling and Annie’s therapies but it will be very family based. I am taking the summer off of caring for other people’s children to concentrate on my own. We all deserve it!

Thats great that they actually offer your family sign language classes as part of Annie's IEP! I've heard of families that just didn't bother to learn sign language, so actually offering a class is probably a great idea to encourage families to learn!
