Papa’s Birthday…

This year for Papa’s birthday we went to celebrate at S*x Fl*gs Gr*at Amer*ca. The girls had a great time until (cue dramatic music)…….

Annie lost her BAHA yep you read that right her $4000 BAHA hearing processor popped off of her headband and became MIA. This story however has a happy ending. We were there on a Tuesday. On Sunday we receive a phone call the BAHA was not only found but in perfect working order!!!!!! Here is where I must stop and say that I was amazed by the amount of help that GR8 Amer*ca gave us.  I thought it was gone for good.  They found it inside of the Great Music Hall where we had seen a show.  At this same time in IL we were in the middle of horrible storms.  The storms coupled with the fact that the processor itself is only the size of a silver half dollar.  It also is something that looks like it broke off of something else.  Unless you knew what it was you would have assumed it was trash and pitched it.  That is if you saw it and had not stepped on it and smashed it.  It is not the headband that was lost it was the small black box that snaps onto the head band.  This was the reason for my dispair.

The frustrating part of this whole ordeal is that when the hospital gave Annie her loaner BAHA they neglected to mention to me that there is a safety lead that goes can go on and comes with the BAHA when it is new. So you don’t lose it. To quote our Audiologist “They come with them when they are new but over time and all that they have gotten lost. If you real close you can see the small hole and this what you can do to make a new safety…..” You can imagine how happy I was that she chose to share this information with me only after the processor was lost.

As I said there is a happy ending. Her processor was found and as of the 7/8/10 she now has her own Ponto hearing aid and not a loaner. With the safety firmly attached!!!!!

Before the hearing aid went missing Papa and Lizzy went a few rides and had a bunch of fun.  To be honest Lizzy is just a kid so even though she was upset to think that "Annie will never hear again" she was at an amusment park and there is no way that is not fun for a kid!!
