It turns out that this Thanksgiving we had a lot more to be thankful for than just our Annie.
On his way to our house from work my Dad was in an accident. He is not really sure what happened. All we know for certain is that he went up and over a curb, through a red light and ran up on to another curb and hit a wrought iron fence. Both airbags deployed and his car is totaled. As of today (Tuesday) he has still not been released to go back to work. His physician wants him to see a Cardiologist since he had an irregular EKG when he was first hooked up in the Ambulance. He is home now and has been able to replace his car. We are just very glad that he is okay. Nothing would have been able to replace my Daddy. I am very glad that no one was hurt. Landscaping can be fixed and cars can be replaced but like I said, NOTHING would have been able to replace my Daddy.
This year I decided that Lizzy need to be more involved with the making of Thanksgiving dinner. We ended up having 15 people to feed for dinner so we made an extra turkey breast in the crock-pot so there would be enough for everyone. Lizzy was a big help. Unlike her momma she did not mind touching the turkey breast or the whole turkey for that matter. She tucked the herbs under the skin and placed the slices of butter. She was a trooper and very proud of her work.
After the turkey breast Lizzy then helped me put the big turkey in the roaster oven.
A full day of Mommy not being hands on was too much for Annie. This is how I cooked the rest of Thanksgiving dinner. You are seeing correctly there is one 3 year old wrapped around my leg :)
The next morning after we were well rested Lizzy, Annie and Daddy went to work on the wishbone.
And the winner is..........
Lizzy!!!!
Sorry Daddy better luck next year.
Now begins my favorite time of year.....Season's Greetings!! The time of year from the day after Thanksgiving until the first week of the New Year is just a magical time. Bring on the Christmas Tree and festive times. I am ready!!!
